{UPDATED} We finally have the arrangements to where we can at least have her buried. The funeral will be this Friday at 1:00. They're holding my parent's check for 10 days. Hopefully, the insurance will be in to them by then. Thank you for your support!
We buried my grandfather and uncle years ago without any problems. The insurnace policies were taken care of and sent to the funeral home, and burial was in a timely manner. My grandmother cannot even be buried yet, and she passed on Saturday.
The funeral home will not bury her until they have money in their hands. She has 2 life insurance policies that are being processed. One will take up to a week, the other might be in by Friday. No one here has $6,000 to get it going.
This is so damn frustrating. What the hell are we to do? My grandmother is slowly rotting away, and they won't make arrangements with us. They know they are getting the policies, but won't do a thing until it's in their greedy hands.
My mom and aunt are stressing out. Who wouldn't? This is the craziest thing I've ever heard of. The funeral home has talked to both insurance companies and confirmed they are getting it to them asap.
Now we've got people flying in from Hawaii for a funeral tomorrow that isn't even happening. This is a crazy mess.

I am so sorry you and your family are having to deal with all of this. I hope you are able to put your Grandmother to rest very soon.
How terrible, is there another funeral home you could use. I never heard of a funeral home being so rotton. You are already suffering a great loss. I will pray for you & your family.
Walmart sells coffins on line for a whole lot cheaper than funeral homes. There have been people in our community who have taken their deceased love ones from the church to the cemetery in the back of trucks so they don't have to pay for the funeral home cars.
Funerals are too expensive and funeral homes need to take a deposit of 20% then have the rest of the account paid in 60 days without interest in my opinion.
That way insurance companies could process everything and get the checks to the family.
If something like that happened in my family, I'd have to put it on the charge card until I got the check from the insurance company.
We learned a lot about that a few years ago when my FIL passed. We also learned more when my SIL's fiance and my MIL passed......it all depends on the funeral home. Isn't that crazy?

All I can say is just GREED...... You should be able to show proof of the policies and then they should be able to get everthing done! I am sorry for the trouble they are putting you through!
